Mercer Island, WA, February 10, 2026 – Island Park fourth graders visited the Pacific Science Center in Seattle on Friday, February 6 courtesy of a grant from the Mercer Island School Foundation (MISF).

The field trip provided a rich, hands-on learning experience where students explored, experimented, and interacted with real scientific phenomena.

“Our visit to the Pacific Science Center connects directly to Washington State 4th grade science standards, including our current unit on energy and how it moves and changes,” said fourth grade teacher Andrea Dunbar.

The Foundation grant covered the cost for all the fourth graders to visit the Science Center.

The interactive exhibits helped bring classroom learning to life for the fourth graders while also sparking curiosity, creativity, and excitement about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

“We hope this experience inspires students to see themselves as scientists and problem-solvers as they continue their learning,” continued Dunbar.
